Guide to Street Business School Implementation
(APPLICABLE ONLY FOR TRAIN-THE-TRAINER WORKSHOPS)
This guide provides an overview of the relationship between SBS and our Partners and detailed guidelines specific to the roles and responsibilities of each party, to support your success in transforming the lives of the people you serve.
Mission and Vision of Street Business School
In order to reach as many people as possible, we offer SBS to other organizations worldwide that enables them to adapt and implement SBS in their local communities. We recognize that we may have knowledge to pass on to the people we work with, but we also know they teach us just as much in return. We are all students. We are all coaches. We are all in this together.
Core Components and Sequence of Delivery of Street Business School Curriculum
Street Business School (SBS) is an entrepreneurial training program designed specifically to help people living in poverty increase their income by providing two core components:
1. Practical, relevant and hands-on business training
2. Coaching and individualized business advice and support
It’s critical that the Street Business School curriculum is delivered in totality, as trained.
Partnering for Greater Impact.
We are here to learn together and are eager for you to succeed in implementing the SBS program in your community.
Our Street Business School Trainers are here to support you as you implement SBS in your community.
What We Provide - Roles and Responsibilities of Street Business School Workshop Attendees
- • Immersion Workshop & Instructional Certification for Two Lead Coaches. Participants will receive the tools and training they need to run Street Business School in their own communities as a Certified Coach. Our training includes both experiential sessions, as well as “behind-the-scenes” insights where partners will learn the educational philosophy that makes each module so effective. This dual-delivery method helps partners gain the perspective of both trainer and student.
- • SBS Curriculum Platform. Participants will receive support materials that consist of a Participant Workbook and Training Templates in soft copy to be used in the delivery of the SBS program in your community. Materials may be used internally and for the implementation of Street Business School. They may not be duplicated or distributed for other purposes outside of the organization.
- • Program Support & Ongoing Updates. We will provide our partners with ongoing program support within 12 months of the Immersion Workshop through up to 6 coaching calls with an SBS Trainer.
What You Provide - Roles and Responsibilities of Partners
As your partner, we have built a framework designed to contribute to your successful delivery of the SBS program. To achieve this goal together we require that our Partners commit to the following:
- • Comply with and Deliver Core Components of the SBS Program. SBS is designed to be customized to meet the needs of the local community, while also implementing the core components, which we know are essential to success.
Core Components include:
- • Training modules as taught in the Train-the-Trainer Workshop
- • Coaching
- • A philosophy of how to interact with the beneficiaries that focuses on building confidence and human dignity
Example elements that may be customized include: the length of SBS program delivery, specific business examples to be used, and other contextual areas you deem necessary.
Lead Coaches. Participants who attend the Train-the-Trainer Workshop and achieve sufficient proficiency (as outlined by SBS in the workshop) will receive certification as either an Associate Lead Coach or a Lead Coach (depending on the workshop taken). In order to ensure quality implementation, we require that at least one certified Lead Coach trains each SBS session in your local community. If Partner chooses not to use two Certified Associate Lead Coaches for coaching visits, coaching visits can be done in pairs by both a certified Lead Coach and an assistant. The Lead Coach should deliver the coaching session so that the assistant can capture data.
